Have you ever experienced a sudden change within that you can’t explain: an unexpected moment of deeply profound peace; of lightness, airiness, where nothing else exists; of seeing the world around you bathed in crystal clear light?
These sudden changes are moments of spiritual enlightenment. Moments where we have direct experience of our true nature.
Moments of enlightenment come out of the blue, and can disappear just as quickly. Often, we don’t understand what’s happening. Intuitively, we know, but the mind doesn’t necessarily know.
These moments of enlightenment have a purpose:
- they introduce us to another world, a world vastly different from the one we normally live in. It is the world of the soul. Soul is the real self, it is what we are.
- they show us that the soul is separate from the mind, that there is a place where we can be free from fear, darkness, pain.
- by their very nature, moments of enlightenment show us that we are beautiful, peaceful, powerful beings.
This knowledge is priceless. Because we’ve experienced it first-hand, we know it to be true.
The challenge lies in being loyal to the experience, to the knowledge we have gained about our true nature, to trusting it so much that it replaces our fear. To trust it so much that we live fully as the beautiful, peaceful, powerful beings that we are.
I’ll be writing more about the lessons of enlightenment, and about how to live from the soul in everyday life. Stay tuned:)
In the meantime, you might like to take The Spiritual Enlightenment Assessment. You’ll see it on the right-hand side of the page. The assessment will give you an idea of the extent to which you live as the full expression of your real self.
If you’ve had any of the experiences that I describe here, and would like to share them with me, or there’s something you’d like to ask, send an email to info@gabriellebergan.com
I’d love to hear from you.
