At the moment, I´m writing a chapter about spiritual enlightenment for my next book. I have heaps of notes, but I wanted to share something that I wrote last year. It sums up what I mean when I write about enlightenment.
Enlightenment is about learning how to be the real self – the self that is our essence, soul. It is also about learning how to remain the real self, soul, unaffected by what is happening around us.
There will always be things happing in the external environment – at work, in our relationships to others, in the world at large. And, if we´re disconnected from our self at our core, it´s easy to be affected by what happens around us; easy to react emotionally. But, we don´t have to be affected by outer circumstances.
We can remain peaceful, calm, serene. To do so enriches our experience of life, and promotes health and well-being.
Also, by consistently remaining peaceful, calm, serene, we bring beauty and peace to the world around us.
